Supplemental Educational Services

Supplemental Educational Services

Supplemental Educational Services are tutoring services in subjects
that children from Title I schools may be eligible to receive.
This service is provided free of charge.  To find out if your child
is enrolled in a Title I school contact the school or district office.

Supplemental Educational Services are extra instructional services
to increase achievement in low performing schools.  Students who
attend schools that have not made Adequate Yearly Progress on
student achievement (AYP)* for three or more years are eligible for
Supplemental Educational Services.  Supplemental Educational Services
(also known as SES) allows children to receive extra help in major
subjects such as reading, math, and language arts.

School districts are required to notify parents if their child is eligible for supplemental educational
services and also distribute a list of providers that are state approved.  Providers approved by the
state work with school districts to offer tutoring services to children outside of regular school hours.
If you have questions about your child’s eligibility, check with your school principal or Title I
coordinator in your district.

Learning about Supplemental Educational Services will allow you
to make informed choices about your child’s education.
*Adequate Yearly Progress – minimum level of improvement
that states, school districts, and schools must achieve each year.
